Pte. Thomas Henry Cox (25806) (see 12th October), who was serving at the Base Depot at Arquata Scrivia, was posted back to England for demobilization.


Maj. Robert Harwar Gill DSO (see 7th October), who had been under treatment at 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth for the wounds he had suffered in October 1918, was granted two months’ leave, on the expiry of which he was to return to hospital.

A/CQMS John William Baird (see 21st April) was formally transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.

Pte. Wilson Sunderland was also formally transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z; he was a 33 year-old dyers’ labourer from Bradford and was married with one child. In the absence of a surviving service record I am unable to establish when he had joined 10DWR or any details of his military service.

Payment of a £17 10s. war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Sgt. George Thomas Bates (see 20th August 1918), who had died in November 1917 while serving with 32nd Company, Labour Corps; the payment would go to his widow, Emily.

Payment of an £11 10s. war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Sgt. Wilfred Blackburn (see 20th January 1917), who had been killed in action in July 1916. The payment would go to his next of kin, his married sister, Mrs. Jessie Kendall.

Payment of a £5 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late L.Cpl. Arthur Dyson MM (see 11th October 1918), who had been presumed dead having been officially missing in action since 17th October 1917; the payment would go to his father, William.

Payment of a £14 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late L.Cpl. Arthur Charles Elkington MM (see 20th March 1918), who had been killed in action in September 1917; the payment would go to his widow, Ellen.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Joseph Honeyble (see 20th March 1918) who had died of wounds in October 1917; the payment would go to his widow, Rose.


Payment of an £8 10s. war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. William Munro (see 25th August 1917), who had been killed in action in July 1916; the payment would go to his father, Daniel.

Payment of a £5 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Peter James Sheehan (see 18th March 1918) who had been killed in action in October 1916; the payment would go to his father, Michael.

Payment of a £6 10s. war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Ernest Varley (see 18th May 1916) who had been killed in action in March 1916. The payment would be divided equally between his brothers, James and Joseph.
