In Brighouse, Jane Elizabeth Kershaw, wife of Pte. James William Kershaw MM (12519; 60065) (see 10th July), gave birth to the couple’s first child, a daughter, who would be named Esther Ann.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late L.Cpl. William Hemp (see 24th May 1917) who had had died of wounds in November 1916; the payment would go to his mother, Miriam.

Payment of a £12 10s. war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. George Brook (see 7th December 1917), who had been killed in action in June 1917; the payment would go to his widow, Maud.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Frederick Charles Davies (see 18th January 1918), who had died of wounds in June 1917; the payment would be divided in equal shares between his sister, Emily and his grandmother, Martha.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Alfred Hirst (see 4th September 1918), who had been presumed dead having been officially missing in action since September 1917; the payment would go to his mother, Elizabeth.

Payment of a £7 10s. war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Herbert Kitley (see 25th April 1918) who had been killed in action in October 1917; the payment would go to his father, John.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. George Stinson (see 3rd April 1918) who had been killed in action in September 1917; the payment would go to his mother, Betsy.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Thomas Henry Swift (see 5th April 1918) who had been killed in action in September 1917; the payment would go to his father, Thomas.

Payment of a £3 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Arthur Tempest (see 13th June); the payment would go to his widow, Clara, who had re-married in January and was nowMrs. Petty.

Payment of a £6 war gratuity was authorised in respect of the late Pte. Harry Willey (see 24th March), who had been officially missing in action since September 1917; the payment would be go to his brother, Jack.
