Sunday 9th March 1919

Billets at Montecchia di Crosara

Pte. Albert Mellor (see 18th December 1918) was reported by Pte. Tom Midgley (see 3rd August 1918) and by other witnesses not from 10DWR as having been drunk on duty; he was placed in confinement to await trial by Field General Court Martial. However, Pte. Midgley himself was also reported on a charge of ‘neglect of duty; ie whilst in charge of two prisoners, allowing them to obtain drink; he was also placed in confinement to await trial by Field General Court Martial.
Sgt. George William Chapman DCM (see 30th October 1918), A/Sgt. James Shackleton MM (see 6th February), L.Cpl. Ernest George Denyer (see 6th February) and Ptes. Harold Raymond Hebdon (see 6th February), Harry Horner (see 16th February), David Hume (see 15th December 1918), Pte. Henry Vanderstein Joyce (see 29th July 1916), Thomas Edward Laycock MM (see 6th February), Frederick Patrick (see 6th February), Frederick Sharp (see 6th February), Frank Swindlehurst (see 19th September 1915) and Arthur Wood (29524) (see 6th February) were officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.
Pte. Harry Hartley (see 7th February), who had been serving in France with 1st Field Survey Company, Royal Engineers, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z. He would subsequently make a claim for an Army pension on the grounds of having suffered ‘myalgia’ as a result of his service, but his claim would be rejected.

Pte. David Hume (see 15th December 1918), who had been serving on attachment from 10DWR with 296th Railway Company, Royal Engineers, was formally transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z; he was awarded an Army pension (details unknown) on account of facial wounds he had suffered whilst in service.

Pte. Robert Clive Melhuish (see 29th October 1917) was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z; at some point (date and details unknown) he had been transferred from 10DWR to the Machine Gun Corps.
L.Sgt. Albert Earnshaw (see 9th January 1918), who had been serving with 3DWR at North Shields, was officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.
Pte. Frederick Abbot (see 15th February), who had been in England since November 1918, after suffering from bronchitis, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.
