Friday 14th March 1919

Billets at Montecchia di Crosara

Pte. George William Ball (see 5th January), serving with 512th Prisoner of War Company at Arquata Scrivia, was attached to the Military Police. Ptes. Richard Henry Harris (see 5th January) and William Ryan (see 5th January), who had also been serving with the same Company, were transferred to the GHQ concentration camp at Tavernelle in preparation for demobilization.
Pte. Michael Newton (see 3rd December 1918) was also posted from the Base Depot at Arquata Scrivia to the GHQ concentration camp at Tavernelle in preparation for demobilization.
Pte. Herbert Jacklin (see 18th February), serving with 69th Trench Mortar Battery, was discharged from 62nd General Hospital at Bordighera, near Ventimiglia and posted to the Base Depot at Arquata Scrivia; he had been suffering from jaundice.
Cpl. William Edward Varley (see 18th February), serving with 8th Yorks. and Lancs., was promoted Lance Sergeant.
Capt. Alfred Percy Harrison MC (see 20th February), who had been serving with 3DWR at North Shields, formally relinquished his commission ‘on grounds of ill health due to wounds suffered in action’.
Sgts. William Edward Gibson MSM, MM (see 27th July 1917) and Willie Nichols (see 3rd February) and Ptes. Frederick Betts (see 3rd February), Willie Davenport Frame (see 3rd February), Henry Lindley Harvey (see 17th July 1918), William Hill (see 4th February), James Edward Hollingworth (see 11th February), John Thorp Newsome (see 3rd February), Leonard Pankhurst (see 13th February), Harold Poucher (see 5th June 1918) and Thomas Stockdale Worsley (see 12th September 1914) were officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.
Pte. Percy Harry Bentley (see 6th January), who had been in England since January, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z; having suffered from “I.C.T.” (inflammation of the connective tissue) to his knee, he was awarded an Army pension of 5s. 6d. per week, to be reviewed after six months.
Pte. Edwin Dawson (see 12th February), who had been serving in France with 9DWR, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.
Pte. Louis Charles Preen (see 29th November 1918), serving with 3DWR at North Shields, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z. Having been wounded in October 1918, he was awarded an Army pension of 6s. 10d. per week, which was to be reviewed after one year.

Pte. Andrew Green (see 8th July 1916), serving with the Machine Gun Corps, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z; he would be awarded an Army pension (details unknown).

Pte. Harry Killeen (see 9th March 1917), who, since having been wounded while serving with 10DWR January 1916, had served with 2DWR and 1st/6th DWR, was also officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.
Pte. Horace Trinder (see 19th November 1918), who had been serving at Northern Command Depot at Ripon, was officially transferred to the Army Reserve Class Z.


A pension award was made in the case of late L.Cpl. Thomas Hodson (see 24th July 1917) who had been killed in action in July 1916; his father, Thomas, was awarded 8s. per week.
