The Battalion was engaged in training and on the rifle
range.
Sgt. William Walker
Rossall MM (see 24th April)
was reprimanded for ‘neglect of duty’ (details unknown).
Pte. William Henry
Luke (see 30th May)
was appointed Lance Corporal. Ptes. Robert
William Gough (see 13th
July) and Harry Seward (see 29th October 1917) were
also appointed Lance Corporal, although for both the appointment would be, in
the first instance, unpaid.
Pte. George Bernard
Hardy (see 29th July),
serving in France with 2DWR, was discharged from hospital and transferred to
one of the convalescent depots at Etaples.
Sgt. John William
Wardman DCM, MM (see 4th
August) was admitted via 71st Field Ambulance and 9th
Casualty Clearing Station to 62nd General Hospital at Bordighera,
near Ventimiglia; he was suffering from “P.U.O” (pyrexia, or high temperature,
of unknown origin).
Pte. John Richard Newell (see 15th
June) was admitted via 21st Field Ambulance to 39th
Casualty Clearing Station, suffering from influenza.
Pte. Albert Edward
White (see 17th July),
who had been wounded on 15th June, was discharged from 16th
Convalescent Depot in Marseilles and posted to the Base Depot at Arquata
Scrivia.
Pte. John Henshall (see 6th June 1917), serving in India with 1DWR was admitted to hospital (details unknown), suffering from influenza; he would be treated for 15 days before being discharged to duty on 20th August.
