Following his physical collapse on arrival at Rue Marle two
days earlier, the Battalion M.O., Lt. Wilson, sent CSM Harry Dewhirst (see 14th
November) to 69 Field Ambulance Unit for further examination. However, he
was then returned, the same evening, as being fit for duty.
Pte. Septimus Chapman (see 25th
September), who had been in England since having been wounded in September,
was posted to 11DWR at Brocton Camp. However, he failed to report on time and
was reported as ‘absent off sick furlough’ until finally reporting himself for
duty at 8pm on 23rd November. He would be admonished and would
forfeit nine days’ pay.
