Hesdigneul

Training continued.

A/Cpl. John Thomas Matthews (see 7th February) was discharged from 5th Stationary Hospital at St. Omer and re-joined the Battalion.
Ptes. James Leonard Bloomer (see 31st December 1915) and Frank Hargrave (see 22nd January), both of whom had left 10DWR in September 1915, were posted back to France. However, they were not to re-join 10DWR but instead were to be posted to 9DWR, via 17th Infantry Base Depot at Etaples.

Joseph Bell (see 11th August 1915), elder brother of original Tunstill recruit Pte. William Irving Bell, was transferred from 7th Training Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces, based at Zeitoun in Egypt, to join 51st Battalion, A.I.F. at Tel-el-Kebir.
The weekly edition of the Craven Herald reported news of Signaller Arthur Herbert Procter (see 11th February):
AUSTWICK
Home on leave
Signaller A.H. Procter, of the 10th Battalion Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, and youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Procter, of Craig Bank, Eldroth, was home last week on short furlough. Signaller Procter enlisted in September 1914 and after training in England until August 1915 was drafted out with his regiment to France. He took part in the bombardment of Loos, and also has been in other engagements, and has fortunately come through without any injuries.
