Training continued before, late in the evening, the Battalion received orders to be ready to move next day to relieve a portion of the 17th French Division.

 
Trooper Claude Darwin, serving with the Australian Light Horse in Egypt (see 26th February) who had re-joined his unit little more than a work earlier following treatment for mumps, was again admitted to hospital. On this occasion he was admitted to Abassia Hospital, Minia, having been bitten by a horse. Next day he would be transferred to 1st Australian General Hospital in Heliopolis He was the brother of Tunstill recruit, Pte. Tom Darwin, who was currently himself in hospital being treated for ‘debility’ whilst serving with 10DWR (see 14th February).
