William Walker Rossall MM (see 25th November 1917), L.Cpl.
Percy Simpson (see 8th November 1916) and Pte. Maurice Paignton (see 29th
October 1917) departed for England on two weeks’ leave.
Pte. Joseph Livesey
(see 16th February), who
had missed the departure to Italy in November 1917 because he had been in
hospital having suffered a severe case of trench foot, was posted from ‘B’
Infantry Base Depot at Etaples to XIV Corps Reinforcement Camp at Arquata
Scrivia.
Pte. Myers Atkinson
(see 11th February), who
had been in the UK since being wounded in September 1917, and had had his left
leg amputated below the knee, was formally discharged from the Army as no
longer physically fit for service. He was awarded a life pension; he would
receive 27s. 6d. for nine weeks, reducing thereafter to 13s. 9d. per week.
Pte. Thomas Bownass
(see 11th February), who
had been in the UK since March 1917 suffering from paresis (weakness or partial
paralysis) of the right hand, was formally discharged from the Army as no
longer physically fit for service. He was awarded a pension of 27s. 6d. for
four weeks, reducing thereafter to 16s. per week and to be reviewed after one
year.
A payment of £2 7s. 3d. was authorised, being the amount due
in pay and allowances to the late Pte. Amos
Oddy (see 20th September),
who had been killed in action on 20th September 1917;
the payment would go to his father, Simeon.
