The War Diary recorded simply, “Nothing to report. Weather
fine. Heavy fighting South, in direction of La Bassee”.
Pte. Charles Davey
was posted back to England (reason unknown). He was one of the Keighley
recruits who had been attached to Tunstill’s Company in September 1914; he was
19 years old and had been working as a motor engineer.
