L.Cpl. Thomas Walsh

was promoted Corporal.
Capt. Thomas Lewis Ingram, RAMC, elder brother of Lt. Robert Stewart Skinner Ingram, one of
the officers of ‘A’ Company (see 22nd July) was involved in fierce fighting around Hooge and would be
awarded the Military Cross for his conduct. Ingram was attached to 1st
Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry and, according to the citation, (London
Gazette, 10th September 1915) he, “was evacuating wounded from the
front trenches almost without cessation the entire nights of 9th and
10th August 1915, and his indomitable energy and resource were the
means of saving the lives of many severely wounded officers and men. He has
previously done consistently good work”. During the course of the action he had
been hit in the back by shrapnel, but continued to attend to his duties.
