Having returned to Folkestone, 23rd Division,
including Tunstill’s Company, was inspected by Major General Sir Archibald
Murray, Chief of the Imperial General Staff.
Pte. Fred Hird (see 5th April) was reported as
‘absent from tattoo’ until appearing on the 7am parade the following morning;
he would be admonished but suffer no further punishment.
