Tunstill’s Company, along with the rest of the Battalion, and the whole of 23^rd Division, returned to Folkestone, following an 18-day stay based in Maidstone.

Lance Corporal Frederick Griggs (see 5^th May), who had originally served with Tunstill’s Company before being transferred to 2^nd Battalion, West Ridings, was promoted acting Corporal. This followed the heavy losses which the Battalion had suffered in action in the previous days.
