Another hot and sunny day. The provision of large working
parties overnight continued.
Following a report from Sgt. Alfred Dolding (see 7th
May) that Ptes. Ernest Ashness (see 1st April), Clifford Mackrell (see 16th January), Fred
Riddiough (see 16th March)
and Fred Slater (see 4th April) of ‘C’ Company
had all been ‘late on parade’, they were ordered to be confined to barracks for
five days on the orders of Capt. Alfred
Percy Harrison (see 8th
May).
Ptes. Arthur Leeming
(see 3rd May) and Harry Robinson (see 5th May), currently being treated for myalgia and boils
respectively, were transferred from 69th Field Ambulance at Landbouver
Farm, north-west of Reninghest, to 2nd Army Rest Station, currently being operated by 70th Field Ambulance at Mont des
Cats.
Sgt. William
Edmondson Gaunt (see 4th
May) was posted back to England in
preparation for a course of officer training; he would have a period of leave
before beginning his course.
A payment of £7 6s 5d. was authorised, being the amount outstanding in pay and allowances to the late Pte. Irvin Barraclough (see 29th July 1916), who had been killed in July 1916; the payment would go to his mother, Mrs. Christina Heppenstall.

A payment of £12 13s. was authorised, being the amount
outstanding in pay and allowances to the late Pte. Timothy Kennedy (see 6th
October 1916); in accordance with the terms of his will the amount would be
divided three ways. His brothers, Edward and Frank, both of whom were serving
in the Army, would each receive £4 16s. 6d. and the remaining £3 would go to one
Archie Haig (unidentified).
A payment of 3s. 6d. was authorised, being the amount outstanding in pay and allowances to the late Pte. Bertram Stanley Temperton (see 19th March) who had been killed in action in July 1916; the payment would go to his widow, Alice.
