With a return to the trenches planned for the following day,
“the usual parades were held and inspections of iron rations, equipment and
ammunition made preparatory to going into trenches”.
Pte. Arnold Robson
(see 17th October) was
admitted to hospital (details unknown); he would be discharged and return to
duty the following day.
Pte. William Stokes
(see 6th September) was reported
for ‘riding in the regimental water cart without permission’; on the orders of Capt.
Henry Kelly (see 23rd October) he would be confined to barracks for
seven days.Having received the death certificate for the late Lt. Harry Harris (see 7th November) who had been killed at Le Sars, Messrs. Martineau & Reid, solicitors, acting for the Harris family, formally requested that any effects be sent to Samuel Harris, 5 Hatton Gardens, London.

Lt. Thomas Beattie,
(see 24th September), who
had been wounded in July while serving with 9DWR, appeared before a Medical
Board in Newcastle-on-Tyne on the expiry of his six weeks’ sick leave. The
Board found that, “The wound remains sound. He has good use of the arm; can put
his hand up to the back of the head. He is fit for light duty”. He was
instructed to join 3DWR at North Shields, with his case to be reviewed again in
a months’ time.
