Pte. John William Thistlethwaite, one of Tunstill’s original recruits (see 8th September 1914) was
discharged from the Army on account of “general debility and pulmonary weakness”.
He had originally volunteered one week after his younger brother, George, had
enlisted. George had also subsequently been discharged on grounds of ill health
(see 3rd October 1914).
