Sunday 9th December 1917

Support positions between roads 12 and 13 on the Montello.

Fine but cloudy and cold.

Pte. Walter Oddy (see 21st October) was posted from the Employment Base Depot at Etaples for duty at the Royal Engineers Special Factory Section at Les Attaques. This facility had been created for the production and storage of chemical weapons, including phosgene gas.

Pte. Arthur Sutcliffe (see 28th November), who had been wounded two weeks previously while serving with 2/6th DWR, was evacuated to England.

Pte. John Edward Atkinson (see 11th September), serving with 17th Labour Company, Labour Corps, departed for England on two weeks’ leave.
