Thursday 17th December 1914


Cpl. Samuel Collins (see 23rd September) was promoted Sergeant. 
Cpl. Arthur Manks was also promoted Sergeant. He was a 40 year-old millhand from Huddersfield and had previously served as a regular soldier with 2DWR. He had re-enlisted in September 1914 and had been posted to the newly-formed 10th Battalion as a Corporal.
Pte. David Hinchcliffe was appointed Orderly Room Clerk and Sergeant. He was 32 years old and had previously served two years (1900-02) as a regular soldier with DWR. He was married, with two children, and had been living in Longwood, Huddersfield; he had been working as a foreman in a woollen mill.
Home on leave from Aldershot, Pte. Bob Harrison, who had volunteered at Grassington, married Lilian Kidd, the service taking place at the church at Linton, near Grassington.
