Sunday 4th February 1917

Winnipeg Camp
More working parties were provided for the Royal Engineers and training continued.

Pte. Ernest Taylor (29168) (see 16th January), who had been with the Battalion for less than three weeks, was admitted to 69th Field Ambulance with a severe case of ‘trench foot’; he would be transferred via 17th Casualty Clearing Station at Remy Sidings to 8th General Hospital at Rouen.
Brig. Genl. Thomas Stanton Lambert, who had resumed command of 69th Brigade two days’ earlier (see 2nd February) visited Battalion HQ, having visited the other battalions of the brigade the previous day.
(I am greatly indebted to Juliet Lambert for her generosity in allowing me access to Brig. Genl. Lambert’s diary and letters).
L.Cpl. George Andrew Bridge (see 6th January), who had been in hospital in Dundee since having been wounded in January, was posted to 3DWR at North Shields.
